Deadpool Review

Deadpool+Review

Deadpool is not a regular serious Marvel movie, this movie is full of many laughs and many bullets.

Deadpool started off as a Marvel comic book series and is now a movie featuring Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds plays Deadpool (Wade Wilson) who is more psychotic than heroic.

Reynolds did a great job portraying his crude, wise guy character taking the opportunity to crack a joke whenever possible, unlike The Green Lantern where Reynolds played a more serious super hero role. The Lantern, however, remains one of the worst super hero movies I have seen, it’s a stereotypical superhero movie featuring a hot chick that has been captured by a villain and needs to be saved by a hero.

There were no plot holes in Deadpool and I never felt lost while watching it. The action starts in the middle of the plot and then cut to a flashback that fills in the audience on the background of Deadpool (Wade Wilson) and then eventually builds back up to the present time.  This sequencing effectively paces the movie. Wade is a mercenary and while the movie progresses he becomes Deadpool a psychotic hero/villain who likes to kill, talk to the camera, and pushes his enemies buttons by cracking as many jokes as he can to be clever.  Deadpool may have been portrayed as bad guy at first, but as the viewers watch they find out that he has a good cause. This is a comedic story filled with action, two things people love.

This movie is rated “R” and is for viewers 17+, because of the humor used in this movie. The humor is comedy gold, but has lots of profanity, some jokes that viewers could take offense to, and a couple explicit scenes which might be a little graphic.

The soundtrack fit the movie perfectly. During the intense scenes fast paced rap and rock music were played such as “X Gon’ Give it to Ya” by DMX and “Howlin’ for You” by the Black Keys. During the more mellow scenes softer music is played such as “Love is a Tricky Thing” by Catherine Song and “Calendar Girl” by Neil Sedaka.

Despite mature situation and intense violence I loved the movie. I saw it twice and both times the audience had a great time. I highly suggest seeing this movie if you are of age.
