Kingsman: The Golden Circle – Review

“Manners maketh man”

An iconic line from Harry Hart (Colin Firth), an agent for a secret intelligence agency known as the Kingsman.

This sequel does not disappoint. It opens with an intense and sudden car chase and fight scene, complete with impressive camera angles and beautifully choreographed stunts.

The fight scenes in these movies are one element that sets them apart from other spy films. They are almost all filmed in one continuous shot with the camera following the action closely to make the viewer feel like part of the action.

These scenes, while graphic, never show a whole lot of blood and demonstrate a creative Jackie Chan style of fighting that keeps the audience engaged.

Equipped with beautiful aerial footage and complex vfx shots zooming through the inside mechanisms of guns, the camera work in this film is second to none.

The movie has a creative soundtrack that mixes western country music with the classic orchestral style that we are used to in spy movies. This influence is brought on by the American agency, Statesman, who join our original characters in Kentucky, USA. These American agents, played by Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges, provide a nice juxtaposition with the well mannered British spies from across the pond.

“The Golden Circle” is a great follow up to the original Kingsman film.  One could watch the two back to back without getting bored. Director Matthew Vaughn ties everything together between the movies making for a strong underlying plot and quick connection to the characters. However, if you’re just looking for insane fight scenes you needn’t watch them in succession.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is a well shot, well choreographed, and well balanced film with surprise celebrity cameos, the coolest gadgets, and all the suspense and action you could ask for.
