New yoga studio, located in downtown Winona, was opened April 28, 2017, owned by Heather Beier.

Classes range from 5:45 am to 7 pm and your first 30 classes are $30. Single classes are $14 and $9 for students and seniors, classes cost $59 per month with an annual membership and $69 per month for a monthly membership.

There are currently 12 teachers with classes such as slow flow, flow, power flow, barre, beginning flow, restorative, piYo, yin and meditation, little yogis, and kids yoga. Muddy Waters also has had special events such was yoga at the brewery, yoga on the bluff, yoga skill workshops and more. New events are constantly being added and can be found on the Muddy Waters Yoga website, as well as on their Facebook.

I have been taking the class power flow, taught by Heather Bier, for about three months. This class is at 5:45 am on Tuesday and Thursday. Although I have prior experience with yoga, I have never been to a yoga class, so I was nervous.

Walking into the studio, there is a single bathroom on the right and a desk on the left. Along the wall are hooks to hang jackets and a place to put shoes. There is only one yoga studio, which is small, fitting about 20 yogis. My first class was a success and afterwards I felt calm and ready for my day.

I would highly recommend Muddy Waters Yoga to not only improve physical health, but also to improve mental health. Yoga is shown to increase body awareness and energy, and sharpen attention and concentration. Yoga centers the nervous system, making problems such as anxiety, stress, and depression to decrease. But if physical benefits seem more of an interest, yoga increases muscle strength and flexibility, improves the metabolism, promotes weight loss, and prevents injuries.
