Weather perfect for Earth day mass

Weather perfect for Earth day mass

Cotter held an all-school  outdoor mass on Thursday, April 30, celebrating the Earth day with Fr. Jim Berning.

The weather was high 60’s and sunny with a cool breeze, the perfect weather for the outdoor mass. It was held on the soccer field and students brought their blankets to sit on the grass. Fr. Jim said to enjoy and take care of nature and talked  about Pope Francis’s forthcoming encyclical about the need to eradicate poverty.

The outdoor mass for the Earth day was very meaningful.  The purpose of the mass is to remind ourselves to appreciate and respect our earth, since the God created this beautiful world with many reasons to be outside.

In staging the mass, weather is the biggest challenge to go out, since it often rains in the beginning of April, but this time, it didn’t. According to Mrs. Corcoran, the other challenges were bringing everything they need for the mass and the wind blowing things away. She also said this outdoor mass was perfect and there will be one more outdoor mass for the Celebration Day.

Here is the list of people who helped the mass:

  • Musicians: Steve Hadaway, Connor Hagarty and Mr. Mark Roeckers
