Freshman in physical science class went to Valley Fair  for an end of the year field trip on Monday, May 18. Mrs. Frisby and Ms. Shriver chaperoned the trip.

The whether was 41℉ and windy. It was so cold that some of the rides were not working properly. The weather also meant that  there were fewer people than usual at the park. The smaller crowd was good in that there are short lines for rides, but not as exciting as when the Valley Fair is crowded on a warmer day.

According to Mrs. Frisby, the itinerary was as follows:

7:30a.m.~10:00 a.m. Depart to Valley Fair,  10:30a.m.~12:00 p.m. Collecting data in Valley Fair, 12:00p.m.~12:30 p.m. Watch Physics show,  12:30p.m.~5:30 p.m. Free time, 5:30p.m.~8:00p.m. return to Cotter.

The plan was followed without any problems.

At Valley Fair students had to collect data and record their thoughts. For students who may have questions, Mrs. Frisby was at the same spot the entire day  so students could easily find her.

“The day was successful. I saw students were working hard to collect data and use it to show what they learn about physics,” said Mrs. Frisby, adding “One of the best way to learn science is to see science in action.”

“It was very fun and we could learn about a lot of physical principles from the rides. I hope I can go there again,” said freshman Penny Peng.

Another student in physical science had this to say:  “Even though It was cold whether, It was really exciting.Through this experience, I could understand physical more and enjoyed class more.”

For meals, dorm students  each were given $13 to purchase food and some students brought a sack lunch, too.
Using the data in Valley Fair students have to work for final due to May.26th.
