Cotter Football Earns First “W”

The Cotter varsity football team was pumped up last Friday night when they captured their first win of the season beating the Dover-Eyota Eagles on the road 41-32.
After to failing to score in the first few games of the year, the offense erupted. Josh Forst threw for 221 yards and Kyle Kerrigan grabbed a pair of touchdowns, while Zach Hefel had 17 carries for 57 yards to pace the Ramblers.
Despite dominating the game in terms of yards gained, Cotter had to overcome a 3rd quarter deficit to earn the victory.
Robert Rivers, a senior captain, loved the feeling of getting that first win: “We need to find a rhythm for our offense to roll on and now we’ve found it. Any win is satisfying, you feel great because your hard work has finally paid off.”
The football team has been struggling this season with head coach Bruce Carpenter leaving for medical reasons, and facing tough competition with a young team. Interim coach Seth Haun has kept the players putting in their time day in and day out at the Cotter Fields. The key thing for these players is that they have seen that hard work will eventually pay off.
