Can 2025 top the historic 2024 season where the Cotter volleyball team finished as the section runners-up?
As the 2025 season quickly approaches, what is it like to be on the Cotter volleyball team, and what is the team looking for this upcoming season?
Junior Emily Blumers played her second season on the Varsity team this past year. “The team has a great dynamic, is very positive, and focuses on serving each other. It was very successful and really fun, we won a lot and it was really good to grow as a teammate and player,” Blumers said

Camrie Macal, also a junior on the Cotter volleyball team, spoke about how everyone gets along very well. Macal also mentioned the team environment being drama free, which was a specialty leading to their success.

Sophomore Alayna Hardy joined the volleyball team this past season. Coming into the team Hardy noticed how cheerful everyone was. “I felt welcomed” Hardy said about joining the team.
Assistant coach Grace Ashley saw a team that worked together to improve. “The team was very hard working, dedicated, and persevered through many hard obstacles as a team,” Ashley stated.
A successful season comes with great memories, and many great ones were made for the team, such as beating the challenging Caledonia team twice, and getting to play at the Rochester Civic Center.

With the 2025 season quickly approaching, team members and assistant coach now look to build on last year’s success.
“I am looking forward to another successful season, and I’m also very excited to play my senior season and it will take a lot of trust and communication to accomplish our goals,” Blumers said.

Macal’s goals for her senior season consist of a great year with a really fun team, and even personally committing to a collage. Strong determination to be on the court and win is what Macal believes will lead the team to success.

Going into the new season this year, Hardy hopes everyone can continue to work together, also mentioning how she looks forward to playoffs this season.
Although it will be difficult Ashley believes that with good leaders the team can accomplish hard challenges. “The team needs people who are hard working and will bring 100%, not tear down.” Ashley said. “The potential this year is great, but different.”
As the season approaches, and with the high spirit of coaches and teammates the season looks to be another great one. The team seems to have strong ideas on what is needed to lead themselves to another successful season, with many more great memories yet to come.
