Creative ideas are flowing in Mr Hodge’s art room this year.
Mr. Hodge, who is in his 5th year at Cotter, is teaching Intro to Art, Animation, and Photography.
Currently his intro class is learning about drawing and how to relate it to value (using lights, mediums, and darks). In animation, the class is discussing principles of animation, making flipbooks, and making stop motion animations using Adobe Premiere Pro. Lastly, the photography class is learning about compositional strategies and editing in Adobe Lightroom.
“I like Mr. Hodge as a teacher, I think he has good hands on lessons,” Emily Blumers, a Cotter junior, said.
She is currently a student in intro to art, photography, and animation. Last year she took painting. She hopes to get better at art overall and to have fun. Art isn’t something that she does outside of class, but she likes being in the class during the school year to have a break from other classes.
Hunter Schroeder is a 9th grade student in animation. His only prior art experience was 7th grade art, also taught by Mr. Hodge. In his animation class, he hopes to use the camera more and become smarter at animating.
Next semester Mr Hodge is teaching another intro to art section as well as Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking, and a new drawing class for the first time.
