Every Thursday at lunch, a group of students gather in Campus Ministry, not just to pray but to connect, reflect, and support one another.
The group, known as Power in Prayer, has become a meaningful part of student life at Cotter, offering a space for spiritual growth.
Power in prayer was originally founded by Sonja Semling, an alum from the class of 2025. Since she has left the other members, who have not graduated yet, have continued on the prayer group. Some of the members include LeYan Thean, Clara England, and Lily Doud.
LeYan was invited to Power in Prayer last year by Maddie Modjeski. “My favorite part of Power in Prayer is spending extra time to bond with friends and have conversations to vent about our school day.” LeYan said.
She also hopes that more students join the group. “I wish people knew more about the value of God to respect him. I wish people who respect God would come to Power in Prayer.”
Lily Doud and Clara England were invited by Sojna Semling. “I enjoy being able to discuss faith as a community, ” Lily said.
“My favorite thing about Power In Prayer is the sense of community, ” Clara said.
Whether through prayer, conversation, or simply showing up, Power in prayer continues to prove its strength is found not just in faith but in friendship.
