On Saturday, May 3, many  Cotter students had their minute of fame on the red carpet, at the 2014 prom.  The theme for the dance was “A Night on Broadway.”

Since 1996, Mark Roeckers has worked to create a fabulous prom night for the graduating seniors, juniors and their dates. This year was no exception.

In his role as the junior class adviser, Roeckers  sees putting on the prom as one of his responsibilities. He  took charge of setting up the stage for the Grand March and decorating  Signatures restaurant for the dance.

Even athletes put away their jeans and showed up in tuxedos.  The evening started by the time honored ceremony of the  promenade, taking place at Saint Cecilia theatre at 6:45 pm.

Parents, families and friends were invited and filled up the rows of seats in the theater. Girls wore an array of dresses representing the collections of various brands, stores, designers and  colors from shiny green to white and pink. The popular shape was “naturally loose”.  Brenna Lindsey looked sharp  in  a classy grey and white in the princess  gown. The other classy combination was reddish dress in combination with red lipstick which created very controversial look.

The prom queen, Hannah Kosel, presented herself in pink, light gown decorated with glitters around the neckline highlighted with half up hairstyle with curls falling on her shoulders. It  made perfect fit  for the crown.

Gentleman matched their dates with similarly colored ties and vests. After the official  march, all of  the participants and audience gathered in front of the theater to take last minute pictures.  Two buses drove them to the Signatures, a restaurant where the ball took place. The dinner consisted of salad starter followed by buffet tables where chicken, ham, corn, vegetable and mashed potatoes were served. The desert cookies and flavored drinks which students could pick up at the bar section for refreshment between the dances or  to go with the meal. The restaurant also offered dancing floor space and acoustics equipment for the ball.

The junior class parents were in charge of setting up the after party. The after prom started around midnight at the Cotter High School gym. There were lots of activities and funny games such as air castles,an  air box blowing money around, table tennis and gambling games. . There were tons of  snacks like fruit, cookies, cold sandwiches, pizza, crackers. For the drinks they served water, cola, and an assortment of cold drinks. The night closed with the performance of a hypnotist in the Saint Cecilia Theater starting at 3 am and ending until 4:30.
