The Cotter girls varsity basketball team defeated the Rushford-Peterson Trojans 48-34 in a home game on Tuesday, December 11.

The game was competitive with R-P staying with Cotter til halftime.  Both teams switched defenses and used pressure to disrupt the other team’s offense.

The leading scorer for the Ramblers was Jordan Rubie, a junior, with 17 points.

Our defense was the most important aspect of our team because it caused the other team to earn the shots that they took and ended up being the reason that we won the game,

The ramblers defense was outstanding and the team was excellent at the free throw line, converting 15 of the 16 attempts. The win improves the team’s record to 6-1, and 5-0 in conference play

“Our defense was the most important aspect of our team because it caused the other team to earn the shots that they took and ended up being the reason that we won the game,” senior forward Isabel Nothrop said.

“We learned that even on bad shooting nights our team has the ability to come together and get the job done by playing good defense and making our free throws which we were 15/16 for on the night,” Abbey Allen, senior, said.

“I think our teamwork was greatly improved in the Rushford game. We have started to really work together better on offence and defense,” Gloria Flanagan added.

Their next game is a home game against La Crescent on December 14.
