At the 10 minute mark in the first half of the semi final section playoff game, every fan in the building knew one thing, the Ramblers came to play.

The #4 seeded Cotter Ramblers took on the #1 seed Lake City Tigers on Saturday at the Mayo Civic Center. Cotter came in with a game plan to stop Lake City’s two 6 footers by double teaming them and it worked to perfection.

The two girls who average 18 and 17 points per game both scored 6 points each. Lake City, a team who averages 71 points per game were held to a season low 38.

The Rams were fueled by freshman Megan Morgan’s 14 points and junior Jordan Rubie’s 14. Offense is not what won Cotter the game though, their opportunistic defense forced two turnovers in the first three possessions of the game. The full court pressure as well as denying post entries seemed to fluster the tigers .

Cotter now has 4 days to prepare for the #2 seeded Caledonia Warriors who may be one the hottest team in the state of Minnesota. The Warriors riding on a 19 game win streak and come in fresh off a 10 point win over Rochester Lourdes.

The Ramblers and the Warriors split their season series 1-1 and come in very familiar with each other, so it should be a very good game.   Each team won on the other’s home court in tight contests.

The two teams blockbuster game will tip off Thursday, March 7, at 8 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Arena with the winner punching a ticket to state.
