Luke Schommer receives a handshake from Coach Biesanz after hitting his first varsity home run.

Cotter 8th grader Luke Schommer hit his first career varsity home run against the La Crescent Lancers, just 1 day after going yard  in the JV game against the Triton Cobras.

“It was a great feeling, I did not think that I hit the ball that far.” Schommer said.  Schommer’s shot caught the left field foul pole in La Crescent.

“I am not surprised that Luke hit a home run. He’s been close many times in practice, as well as having some other close ones in other games too,” assistant coach Kevin Amren said.

“The most impressive thing is that, he is an 8th grader, and he has been one of our best hitters this year,” Amren added.

The Ramblers ended up losing, in a close game against La Crescent, a top ranked team in the conference 11-9.
