The WSH swim team warms up with Cotter students.

The Winona Senior High swim team is bolstered by a sestet of Ramblers. Seniors Mckenna Marg and Emily Thurow, sophomores Morgan Whyte and Alex Arnold, freshman Jessica Kohner, and 7th grader Lauren Whyte, participate in Co-Op swimming with the Winona Senior High School.
A benefit of being a part of this special team is meeting new people from a different school. The challenge facing these girls is finding a good time to get practice in, or when to be dismissed for a game.
The Cotter group is led by seniors Marg and Thurow. Marg swims the 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 4×100 freestyle relay, and the 200 medley relay. Thurow swims the 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 4×1 freestyle relay, and the 200 medley relay.
“Swimming is an individual sport, but we still have to work as a team because each one of us scores depending on how we place,” Marg said. While the team’s dual meets are ending, they’re just starting their big nine sections and, of course, hope to do well at state. Two schools will be pulling for them.
