Cotter’s homeroom Connect and Serve (CNS) groups are busy taking on service projects around Winona.  The Chronicle will be featuring groups as they complete projects.

Mr. Costello’s group, the Cosmanian Devils, helped run the children’s carnival at the St. Mary’s parish’s River City Festival on Sunday, October 13.

Cotter seniors Maura Michener, Bryanna Meieir, and Elissa Wobig, all parish members were in charge of the children’s carnival and a number of Cotter students helped run games and serve food.

For the homeroom project, Cade Hansen and Nathan Graff both freshman,  ran games for small children while working the  10:30am – 12:30pm shift.

The children ranged from toddlers to middle schoolers. They played claw or crane  machine and bean bags toss game. They said some senior girls helped to organize things and also had a fun.

“It was a good experience and fun playing with the young kids”, said Graff.

“The crane game was popular and it was fun teaching kids how to use it, when they were trying to get the stuffed animals,” said Hansen.

It is estimated the carnival helped raise over $600 for the parish.

More CNS projects will be featured in the coming weeks.
