Cotter girls cross country team brought home their first win of the season at Plainview on Tuesday of Homecoming week, October 10.

“It was really cool to win a meet as a team!,”said freshman Aubrey Williams.

When asked what constitutes a successful meet for the whole team, Mr. Costello, the head coach of the cross country team, said that “We are looking for runners to improve times and improve versus the competition.”

Williams has said that this year she has struggled with her iron levels, and so she has had to take supplements to combat that. “I think I’m getting better!”

Timothy Zehr, a senior on the team, believes that the boys team is having a  successful season so far because many of the runners have been getting PRs in the meets. PRs are improved times or “personal records”.

“I would say in general that the meet on Tuesday went very well for most people,” Zehr said.

” Our veteran runners have been great role models and leaders for our newcomers and it really feels like the team is coming together at the right time,” Costello says.

The Three Rivers Conference Meet is on Tuesday, October 17th. Then, the section meet is in Rochester on October 26th.

The girls team has the goal of ” winning the section and competing at the highest level at State,”   Costello said.  The top 2 boys and girls teams and top 8 individuals advance to State.
