Cotter freshman Jack Vaselaar earned a berth in the 2015 MSHSL State Wrestling tournament by pinning all three wrestlers he faced at the section 1AAA meet.

His most impressive victory came in the championship match, where he pinned his opponent in  57 seconds.

Making it to the state tournament was Jack’s goal all season, he will wrestle St. Paul at the Xcel Energy Center starting on Friday.

Former Cotter wrestler and two time state participant George Weege sees a bright future for Jack. “He always works hard and knows when to be serious,” says Weege, “Jack has a very bright future ahead of his as long as he continues to work hard and pursue his goals.”

Jack is the first Cotter wrestler to go to the State Tournament since Weege made repeat trips in  2012 and 2013.
