Waldera hoping to finish season strong

Despite a difficult season, Justin Waldera is hoping to finish his junior hockey year strong.

Waldera is one of the few Cotter students that participate on the Winona Senior High Boys hockey team. Justin plays center on the ice and is first line with fellow Rambler Andre Russeau and Joe Brinkman as his wings.

This is the last week of the regualr season.

“We have one more winnable game this week which will hopefully spark some positive energy to drive us through the playoffs” Waldera said .

“Team goals at this point would be to win our senior game on Saturday which was achieved and to win the last couple of games we have to start a little streak to take us through the playoffs. Personally as a team we need to generate a whole lot more offense and more pucks on net,” Waldera added.

“Staying out of the penalty box is one thing our team could do to generate more shots on goal.”

“I think the best part about playing hockey is attacking the net as a line. It is a great feeling when you have your two wings in the zone with you as you put the puck on the net for a rebound.”

Waldera added, “96% of goals are bar-down after you tickle benders.”

“I share the best chemistry with Andre Russeau and Joe Brinkman” said Waldera.

“Personally, I am not playing to the level I wanted this season, but I am hoping in our next game my line can generate some offense and put some points on the board for our team.”

So far this season the Winhawks have won only one conference game.
